Water distribution will be suspended in parts of Chennai zones — Anna Nagar, Tiruvottiyur, Ambattur, Manali, Madhavaram, Tondiarpet, and Thiru.Vi.Ka. Nagar, and Avadi’s Nagammai Nagar — between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on January 28.
A press release from Chennai Metrowater said work would be carried out to fix electromagnetic flow metres in the distribution pipeline conveying water from the Puzhal water treatment plant, which has the capacity to treat 300 million litres of water a day.
Some of the areas to be affected include Anna Nagar, Mogappair, Korattur, Kolathur, Peravallur, Perambur, Manali New Town, Pulianthope, Vyasarpadi, and Kathivakkam.
The water agency has advised residents to store drinking water in advance and also book for tanker water supply online for immediate needs. However, it would maintain street supply to those roads not covered by the piped network and also fill street tanks. For complaints, residents may contact Metrowater helpline: 044-45674567.
