Piped water supply will be disrupted in some areas of South Chennai for six days from March 21, 2025, as the Nemmeli desalination plant will be closed for maintenance. Water supply will be limited to alternate days.
The maintenance work would help improve the production capacity of the 110-million-litre-a-day plant.
Areas, including Tiruvanmiyur, Kottivakkam, Perungudi, Palavakkam,Vettuvankeni, Karapakkam, Okkiam Thoraipakkam, Neelankarai, Sholinganallur, Uthandi, and Injambakkam, falling under Zones 13, 14, and 15, will not receive piped water supply between March 21 and March 26, said a press release from Chennai Metrowater.
Residents have been asked to store water and book water tankers online through Metrowater’s dial-for-water service. However, street supply will continue during these days.
