Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) is set to enable additional flight connectivity to Bengaluru, during the summer schedule of airlines, beginning from March 30. Passengers will be able to choose from the nine daily flights that IndiGo and Air India Express will operate to Bengaluru during the schedule.
Flight frequency from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will initially increase to eight daily flights (IndiGo six, Air India Express) at the start of the schedule, as against seven daily flights currently operating. This will further increase to nine daily flights to Bengaluru from May 23 with IndiGo increasing from six to seven flights, MIA said in a release on Wednesday.
The Mangaluru-Mumbai route will continue to have five daily flights – three IndiGo and two Air India Express. IndiGo and Air India Express will continue to operate one daily flight, each, to Delhi. Hyderabad will see two daily and one additional flight on three days a week – all by IndiGo, and Chennai will continue to have two daily flights operated by IndiGo.
In the international sector, Air India Express will operate both its weekly flights to Bahrain directly from Mangaluru instead of one via Kannur. Air India Express will operate two daily flights to Dubai, a daily flight to Abu Dhabi, four flights a week, each to Dammam and Muscat, two flights each week to Doha, and one weekly flight, each to Jeddah and Kuwait, respectively.
IndiGo will see a capacity addition of seats on offer with its daily flight to Abu Dhabi as the airline will deploy the 232-seater Airbus A-321 Neo aircraft on this niche sector. Likewise, it will continue to offer four weekly flights to Dubai.
The summer schedule aims to provide passengers with more convenient travel options and improve connectivity between Mangaluru and key destinations, the airport said.
