
Man sentenced to 110 years in jail for abusing minor girl

Cherthala court sentences man to 110 years for child abuse, fines ₹6 lakh; sentences to run concurrently.
A fast-track special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Cherthala on Monday sentenced a 62-year-old man to 110 years of rigorous imprisonment for abusing a six-year-old girl.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹6 lakh on the convict, identifed as Remanan of Pollethai, near Mararikulam. According to the prosecution, the child was molested by Remanan for three years until 2021.
The court found him guilty under various counts and awarded sentences ranging from five to 20 years. The sentences shall run concurrently.
