Leader of Opposition R. Ashok alleges failure of law and order in Karnataka

The BJP leader raised the issue as soon as the House commenced its proceedings for the day citing a rape case in Hampi, writing of Pakistan zindabad slogans, and insult to the Kannada language on the wall of a bathroom of a private factory (Toyota and Kirloskar) in Bidadi in Ramanagara, smuggling of gold, and murders in different parts of the State.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok hit out at the State Government for its ‘failure’ to maintain law and order across Karnataka. He said that the entire Karnataka has transformed into ‘goonda raj’ following an increase in the number of crimes during the Congress rule.

Though there were reports of the involvement of ministers of the Congress government in the gold smuggling case, Home Minister G. Parameshwara remained silent on the matter, Mr. Ashok claimed.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had lost control over the ministers and the administration owing to factionalism in the Congress party. The police under the Congress government have been harassing BJP workers and leaders, Mr Ashok claimed. He demanded an explanation from the government on the law and order failure.
