After a gap of 18 years, the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ of the Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy temple at Kumaravayalur near Tiruchi will be held on February 19
After a gap of 18 years, the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ of the Arulmigu Subramaniaswamy temple at Kumaravayalur near Tiruchi will be held on February 19.
The rituals ahead of the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ commenced on February 14 (Friday) at the temple with ‘Vigneshwara’ puja, ‘punyahavaasanam’, Mahaganapathy hoomam, , Navagraha homam, Gaja puja and Gho puja.
The first ‘Kaala Yaaga’ puja commenced on Sunday evening. The second ‘Kaala Yaaga’ puja will be held on Monday morning and the third ‘Kaala Yaaga’ puja in the evening. The fourth ‘Kaala Yaaga’ puja will be held on Tuesday morning, the fifth in the evening and the sixth in the early hours on February 19 (Wednesday).
Temple authorities said the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ will be held between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on February 19. This will be followed by ‘Maha Abhishekam’ after 12.15 p.m and Thirukkalyanam in the night. A host of work is carried out in connection with the ‘kumbhabhishekam’ of this famous temple.
The authorities said 31 works were carried out, which includes construction of a ‘Mun’ mandapam. The construction of the ‘Mun’ mandapam was executed with donor contribution. Cleaning work is currently under way at the temple ahead of the ‘kumbhabhishekam’, the authorities said. The last ‘kumbabhishekam’ of this temple was held in March 2006.
