BJP national general secretary Radhamohan Das Agarwal would preside over the core committee meeting, which would also review the progress of organisational work among other issues.
Mr. Agarwal is also holding a meeting of party legislators and MPs before the core committee meeting in which all the above issues are expected to figure.
It may be noted that the core committee meeting is being held amidst a surcharged environment in the party, marked by the internal tussle reaching a flashpoint.
While a group of rebels, led by senior leaders Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal and Ramesh Jarkiholi, has been publicly opposing the leadership of party State president, B.Y. Vijayendra, his supporters have announced that they would soon visit Delhi to request the central leadership to expel the above two rebel leaders from the party.
The tussle between these two rival groups has actually irritated the neutral group of BJP leaders and workers who think that such internal tussle is affecting the prospects of the party and are also worried that it may impact its performance in the elections to the local bodies.
They are reportedly trying to bring pressure on the party central leadership to resolve the differences at the earliest.
