Heavy rain in Namakkal, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri districts

Heavy rain hits Namakkal, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri districts, causing flooding in farmlands and urban areas.
Namakkal, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri districts experienced heavy rain early Sunday morning, and in Krishnagiri district, water from a lake entered farmlands.
On Saturday midnight, a few rural areas in Krishnagiri and Namakkal districts received heavy rain, and it continued till early Sunday morning. In Salem city, there was rain for about an hour in the morning.
In Krishnagiri district, rain pounded Pochampalli, Nedungal, Barur, and KRP Dam. Due to heavy rain, rainwater stagnated at various places in Krishnagiri municipality. At N. Thattakkal Lake near Pochampalli, excess water from the water body entered farmlands.
In Namakkal district, Mohanur and Paramathi Velur received heavy rain on Saturday night. Rainwater stagnation was reported at Kaveri Nagar second cross in Ward 5 of the Corporation.
In the 24 hours that ended at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Salem received 5.6 mm of rainfall. Namakkal district received a total of 81.50 mm of rainfall, including 40 mm in Paramathi Velur, 32 mm in Mohanur, 5.50 mm in Namakkal, and 4 mm in Tiruchengode.
Krishnagiri district received a total of 197 mm of rainfall, including 59 mm in Nedungal, 53.40 mm in KRP Dam, 42 mm in Barur, 20 mm in Pochampalli, 19.40 mm in Krishnagiri, and 3.20 mm in Penukondapuram.
Dharmapuri district received 58.9 mm of rainfall, including 14.4 mm in Palacode, 11 mm in Hogenakkal, 10 mm in Dharmapuri, 7 mm in Harur, 6 mm in Marandahalli, 5 mm in Morappur, 2.3 mm in Pappireddipatti, 2 mm in Pennagaram, and 1.2 mm in Nallampalli.
The Cubbon Park administration has said that any event organised inside the park with over 20 participants need prior permission from the Horticulture Department and in some cases, even permission from the police. This comes after the row over organisers of Cubbon Reads, a reading community, being detained on Saturday, as several turned up for a Secret Santa party.
