GVMC Commissioner assures basic amenities to Indira Gandhi Colony residents, addresses issues of street lights, house pattas, and electricity.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar has assured of all basic amenities to the residents of Indira Gandhi Colony, a slum near Sri Kanya Theatre area in Ward 42, here. He visited the slum, inspected the surroundings and enquired about the problems with the 76 families living there.
An elderly woman named Tavitamma, who has been residing in the locality for the past 50 years, urged the Commissioner to issue house pattas. She also complained about defunct street lights and issues which generally arise during rains. A few residents also informed that they still do not have electricity connection to their houses and are forced to live in the dark.
Mr. Sampath Kumar asked the zonal officials to take steps to ensure street lighting is provided in the locality. He has also said that he would initiate steps to provide house pattas, for which he asked the authorities to provide details regarding the slum, the people residing there, etc.
Chief Medical Officer E. Naresh Kumar and others were present.
