‘Government of Karnataka releases Bhagyalakshmi amount only ahead of elections’, alleges Nikhil Kumaraswamy

Nikhil Kumaraswamy said that the government did not release the amount for several months in 2024, but released the dues at once ahead of the by-elections in Channapatna, Sandur and Shiggaon, and two other constituencies. “The government is making use of the scheme only to woo votes in the elections. The amount has not been released for the past few months. They will release it to beneficiaries once the elections to panchayat bodies are declared,” he said.
Janata Dal (Secular) party’s youth wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy has alleged that the government of Karnataka releases financial support under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme to women beneficiaries only ahead of elections, and forgets it later.
In a press conference in Hassan on February 19, Nikhil Kumaraswamy said that the government did not release the amount for several months in 2024, but released the dues at once ahead of the by-elections in Channapatna, Sandur and Shiggaon, and two other constituencies. “The government is making use of the scheme only to woo votes in the elections. Nikhil Kumaraswamy said that he held a meeting with party legislators and leaders from Hassan, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts to discuss strategies to strengthen the party’s base and prepare the workers for the coming local body elections. The party would perform very well in the elections, he stated.
His father and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy is expected to meet the leaders soon in connection with the elections.
