DMK MPs unite with INDIA bloc to protect State rights in delimitation exercise, highlighting issues in upcoming Parliament session.
The DMK MPs will work closely not only with the MPs of the INDIA bloc, but also with MPs who are committed to safeguarding democracy, to protect the rights of States in a delimitation exercise likely to begin next year.
A meeting of the party MPs chaired by DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the DMK headquarters Anna Arivalayam, resolved to highlight the issue in the upcoming session of Parliament slated to begin on March 10, 2025.
A resolution adopted in the meeting alleged the BJP-led Union government which was imposing a three-language formula and Hindi and denying Tamil Nadu its share in allocation of funds, was also not giving a proper answer to the question on delimitation.
“Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has taken up the issue as he has realised the problems faced by the southern States. We will stand by the Chief Minister in his efforts to protect the number of Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and its existing per cent in the share of seats,” the resolution said.
The meeting also decided to take along political parties in the States such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab that were facing the danger of losing Parliamentary seats.
