Uma Ratnam Krishnan advises students to seize opportunities, learn from failures, invest in oneself, and pursue passions at TSM convocation.
Deliver the best in every opportunity you get. There was no need to make a grand plan, but put in your best efforts, Managing Director of Optum India Uma Ratnam Krishnan advised the students at Thiagarajar School of Management here on Saturday.
Speaking at the 39th convocation, Ms. Uma told the students to take chances. Taking a chance does not mean everything should go right. You must learn through the failures. It was a gift for learning. Fail fast by identifying and addressing the problem.
She advised the students that investing in oneself was the key and to never stop learning. She told the students that there was no right time or right place. You have to pick what you are passionate about and work towards achieving it, she told them.
Chairman of TSM B.T. Bangera, in his welcome address, told the students that their learning started now as they would be going into the field. You have to learn every day to cope with the technological and management changes. Keep yourself updated and read every day as the rate of change is much higher now, he advised the students.
Director of TSM Murali Sambasivan presented the annual report and emphasised the need for more focus on research and the plans to upgrade the infrastructure.
Correspondent of TSM Valli Ramaswami and Principal Selva Lakshmi were present. Controller of Examinations P. Mutharasi proposed a vote of thanks.
Ms. Uma distributed degrees and diplomas to 115 MBA, 130 PGDM and 15 PGD-DSBA graduates. Coordinators Prakash Swaminathan and N. Taj Reena were present.
