Mount Poonamallee Road is in a poor condition beyond Porur
The Hindu
Metro Rail project progresses on Mount Poonamallee Road, while Highways Department works on road repairs and widening projects.
The Metro Rail project has been speeded up on Mount Poonamallee Road where an elevated corridor is being built from Alandur to Poonamallee. The condition of the road, beyond Dr. Ramachandra Hospital, from Porur to Iyyappanthangal is poor. While the Highways Department has taken up patch work from Alandur till Porur, the stretch from Porur to Iyyappanthangal has been left unattended. The margins of the stretch between the hospital and Iyyappanthangal are dumped with construction debris. Adding to the mess is the dumping of garbage.
M. Iniyan, Porur.
A senior official of the Highways Department says the elevated corridor from Alandur to Porur has been completed and so the patch work has been taken up. The Metro Rail work is yet to b completed from Porur to Iyyappanthangal. Hence, the patch work is pending. Very soon the damaged portion of the arterial road would be repaired.
The Highways Department is widening the Velachery-Tambaram Main Road. The widening of the Velachery Main Road-Camp Road Junction near Selaiyur has almost been completed. But pedestrians are unable to access the road owing to the delay in the paving of the expanded portion.
