Mother tongue is our identity and it has to be protected, says A.P. Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghu Ramakrishna Raju. The State governments should provide opportunities for Telugu people to study in their mother tongue, he says at the ‘Vaaradhi’ programme organised by the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra (FTAM) with the support of the AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation.
Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju has said that not loving one’s mother tongue is tantamount to not loving his or her mother.
“Our mother tongue is our identity. It has to be protected at any cost,” Mr. Ramakrishna Raju has asserted.
The Deputy Speaker was participating as chief guest in the ‘Vaaradhi’ programme organised by the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra (FTAM) with the support of the AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) here on Sunday.
The programme was aimed at connecting the Telugu community in Maharashtra with their roots in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and those travelling between the two States.
Mr. Ramakrishna Raju said the event would foster strong relationship and help in building a vibrant community network, promoting cultural exchange, and celebrating the essence of Telugu and Marathi heritage.
He suggested that the State governments should provide opportunities for Telugu people to study in their mother tongue to ensure their affection for the language and to prevent them from forgetting their roots.
He reiterated that while learning other languages was fine, neglecting Telugu was not, emphasising that everyone should be able to read and write in Telugu.
