CPI(M) State conference begins in Kollam

Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal hoists red flag at CPI(M) State Conference in Kollam, marking formal beginning of event.
In an air filled with the rallying call of inquilabs and excitement, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal on Wednesday hoisted red flag at Asramam Maidan in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan marking the formal beginning of party State Conference.
The march from Kayyur carrying flag led by State secretariat member M. Swaraj, a torchlight relay led by State Secretariat member P.K. Biju and the procession carrying the flag mast led by Central Committee Member C.S. Sujatha arrived in Kollam on Wednesday evening, converging at Asramam maidan.
After the flag hoisting, the torches from the 23 martyrs’ columns in the district moved to Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Nagar (C Kesavan Town Hall), the main venue of the conference.
The conference proceedings will begin on Thursday at Town Hall after flag hoisting and offering floral tributes at the the martyrs’ column.
Senior leader and Polit Bureau coordinator Prakash Karat will inaugurate the delegates’ meeting and Mr. Govindan will present the report.
The delegate conference discussions will continue on March 7 and 8. While various resolutions will be presented on both the days, replies to the discussions and approval of the report will be on the final day of the conference.
Subsequently, the State committee and Party Congress delegates will be elected. The presentation of the credentials report and discussions on future activities will also take place in connection with this.
