
Companies moot ₹5,445 cr projects, creation of 9,800 jobs at Green Pharma City near Hyderabad

BioAsia 2025 in Hyderabad sees major investments in Green Pharma City near the city, partnerships to boost Life Sciences ecosystem.
A clutch of investment announcements, particularly ₹5,445 crore in Green Pharma City, partnerships to advance the Life Sciences ecosystem in Telangana and business collaborations were made at BioAsia 2025 held in Hyderabad on Monday (February 2025).
Granules, Orbicular, Aizant, Biological E, Virchow, Virupaksha, Jubilant, Vimta, Aragen, Bharat Biotech and Sai Life Sciences are the 11 companies that committed to invest ₹5,445 crore and creation of 9,800 job at the Green Pharma City, coming up near Hyderabad. The MoU they signed are in addition to the six other pharma companies that have already signed with the State government, Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu’s office said in a release.
Consequently, total investment commitments in the Green Pharma City stands at ₹11,100 crore with employment opportunities, through the projects, at more than 22,300, it said.
Without specifying the investment or details of the proposed facility, the Minister’s office said the Telangana Government welcomed global drug major MSD to the vibrant ecosystem of Telangana. A spokesperson for MSD said “we can confirm that MSD is in the initial stages of establishing a global technology centre in Hyderabad.”
The facility will be MSD’s fifth tech centre globally. The decision to set up the facility aligns with “our commitment to innovation and leveraging advanced technologies to enhance our operations and improve patient outcomes. Further details will be shared as we make progress,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
U.S. firm Agilisium is another company investing in Telangana with the launch of the Life Sciences and Innovation and Talent Development Lab in Hyderabad.
Global leader in testing, inspection, certification and verification solutions ALS is establishing a biopharma cGMP testing lab in Genome Valley, the Life Sciences cluster near Hyderabad. Lotus company Meishi Pharma is setting up its second research and development centre in Hyderabad under a new Indian subsidiary.
