Telangana BJP president urges Chief Minister to hand over government 'scams' to CBI, accusing him of incompetence.
Telangana BJP president and Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday asked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to hand over the BRS government-related ‘scams’ to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) since he appeared to be incapable of taking investigations to the logical end.
“The Chief Minister has thrown up his hands in despair. Let him allow the CBI to investigate as he (Mr. Revanth Reddy) and other Congress leaders have sought when in Opposition, but later changed their tune once in power. The CBI can get to the bottom of it,” he asserted at a press conference in the State office.
Flanked by general secretary S. Prakash Reddy and others, Mr. Kishan Reddy accused Mr. Revanth Reddy of trying to push all the ‘failures and inefficiencies’ of the State government onto the BJP-led government at the Centre.
“Who is the Home Minister here? Who formed the Special Investigation Teams (SITs)? Those accused of snooping are out on bail after making confessions of having eavesdropped on judges, journalists, officials, opposition leaders and others. What is the government doing?,” he questioned.
Extraditing accused persons from the United States is not ‘child’s play’ as it involves a lot of procedures as can be seen that it took decades to bring those involved in the Mumbai blasts back to the country for trial, he said, referring to the recent ‘deal’ to extradite Tahawwur Rana.
“The Chief Minister has lowered the dignity of his chair with his utterances. Telangana has already lost out with this kind of arrogant behaviour and more such bluster will only make us a laughing stock. He is talking like that to impress his Delhi leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.”
Mr. Kishan Reddy claimed that his party had already filed a petition in the court seeking the handover of cases filed against the BRS regime to the CBI, including those concerning the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme, lands allotment, power purchase agreements and others.

Contradicting the provisions of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill, 2024, tabled by the State government in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in July 2024, the Joint Legislature Committee that examined the Bill and submitted its report on Monday, has proposed that all the corporations carved out of the existing civic body be given full autonomy in tax collection.
