A Bharatanatyam artiste Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya performed at GITAM deemed to be University here on Tuesday, under the aegis of Directorate of Student Life under SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth).
Ms. Athreya, a distinguished Bharatanatyam soloist and the recipient of the prestigious Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2013), showcased her remarkable artistry, leaving the audience captivated.
As a senior disciple of the legendary Guru Chitra Visweswaran, she skillfully blended tradition and innovation, making her performance both evocative and transformative. Her recital emphasised graceful movements and sparkling utplavanas (jumps), leaving an indelible impression on the students.
GITAM Student Life dean Balakumar, GITAM Fine and Performing Arts Department head Amukta Malyada among others felicitated her.
