Union Minister promotes Thirukkural globally, establishing cultural centers and planning a global conference on the ancient text in New Delhi.
The Union Government was taking all steps to promote Thirukkural before the global audience, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan said here on Friday.
Participating in a conference organised by the Academy of Hypnosis and the Indian School Psychology Association at the Pondicherry University, the Union Minister said the Prime Minister had given an assurance to establish Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in foreign countries during his Lok Sabha election campaign.
“The Prime Minister has started fulfilling his promise after returning to power in June. We have already opened five to six centres in the name of saint Thiruvalluvar in foreign countries. The government was actively working towards holding a global conference on Thirukkural in New Delhi,” the Minister said.
Stating that Thirukkural was one of the most important treasures of the world, the Minister said the thoughts provided by Thiruvalluvar will continue to guide the world. The Minister in his address highlighted the significance of hypnosis as an integrative and adaptable tool for promoting well-being, preventing dysfunction and intervening effectively during critical moments.
He said the conference would help in fostering important conversations and advance the understanding and application of hypnosis across the human lifespan. Around 500 delegates from across the country and abroad are participating in the conference.
Speaker R. Selvam, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, local legislator P.M.L Kalyanasundaram and Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of Pondicherry University K. Tharanikkarasu were among those who attended the inaugural session.
