Ganja seized in peddling cases in Coimbatore Range destroyed
The police on Friday burnt a total of 157.687 kg of ganja, which they had seized from peddlers in four districts in the Coimbatore Range.
According to the police, the contraband was burnt at a biomedical waste treatment facility based on directions from courts, where the cases were handled.
Ganja seized by Coimbatore district police, Tiruppur district police and Erode district police and the Nilgiris district police in a total of 255 cases was destroyed.
Based on directions from the respective courts, the ganja was taken to a facility of Kovai Biowaste Management Private Limited on the outskirts. The contraband was burnt using an incinerator in the presence of V. Sasi Mohan, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore Range, and K. Karthikeyan, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police.
