Naam Tamilar Katchi chief Seeman criticizes ruling parties, launches election campaign for Erode byelection, advocating for change.
Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman criticised the ruling parties in the past 60 years for reducing people to a state where they must depend on alms to receive ₹1,000.
Launching his election campaign for the Erode (East) Assembly byelection on Friday evening, Mr. Seeman sought votes for party candidate M.K. Seethalakshmi. He justified contesting the byelection by stating that significant politics often begin from a single point, like a rangoli dot. “Let the revolutionary change start from Erode (East) as a prelude to the 2026 Assembly elections,” he said.
Despite India’s abundant resources and manpower, Mr. Seeman lamented that people still stand in queue for free rice. “After 60 years of rule, why are women and college students forced to wait for monthly assistance of ₹1,000,”, he questioned.
He wanted to know why parents cannot provide even a single meal for their children and depend on the breakfast in schools. “How this rule is continuing for a long time. We need a change and hence, we are contesting,” he added.
The leader said despite losing all the elections by contesting independently, NTK is the only party in the world that continues to fight. “Our journey began in the 2016 election with 4.5 lakh votes and a share of 1.1%. Now, we have 36 lakh voters and an 8.2% share,” he said, attributing the growth to public trust.
Quoting former Russian president Joseph Stalin that no army is unbeatable, Mr. Seeman asserted that no force is invincible. “DMK can be defeated,” he declared, alleging that the ruling party would rely on money to secure votes instead of showcasing achievements. He urged voters to use their ballots as a weapon for change. He pointed out the protests by teachers, transport workers, students and others, contradicting the ruling party’s claims of providing the best governance.
Mr. Seeman said when the opposition parties have boycotted the byelection, NTK stands courageously and believes that voters will not abandon them. “Only when the rising sun sets in Erode East will a new dawn arise for Tamil Nadu,” he concluded..
