2024-2025 cane crushing season begins at Perambalur Sugar Mills with Minister inaugurating, aiming for 2 lakh tonnes with 9.75% recovery.
The Cane crushing season for 2024-2025 commenced at the Perambalur Sugar Mills Limited at Eraiyur in the district on Thursday. Transport Minister S. S. Sivasankar inaugurated the cane crushing works in the presence of District Collector Grace Pachuau, Sugar Mill’s Chief Executive Ramesh, officials, farmers and local body representatives.
It has been planned to crush a targeted quantity of two lakh metric tonnes with an average recovery of 9.75 %. The closure date of the crushing season is March 18 next year.
An official release said a sum of ₹71 crore was paid without any dues to the farmers’ account for the tonnes crushed during the 2023-2024 crushing season.
