BRS to evaluate educational institutions in Telangana, highlighting issues of food poisoning and government negligence.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao said that his party would organise the ‘Gurukula Bata’ programme from November 30 to December 7 across the State to know the prevailing conditions in educational institutions.
“A five-member study committee formed under the chairmanship of former IPS officer and BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar will evaluate the status of Gurukul schools along with Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Model Schools and government hostels,” he added.
In a press release, KTR said that 48 students had died in 38 food poisoning incidents in these institutions over the past year, and held the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accountable for ‘criminal negligence’ in managing the education sector. He highlighted the absence of a dedicated Education Minister as a critical failure, accusing the Chief Minister of prioritizing political engagements in New Delhi over addressing pressing issues at home.
The committee members include Dr. Anjaneyulu Goud, Errolla Srinivas, Rajaram Yadav and K. Vasudeva Reddy. They will interact with students, parents and staff to identify challenges and propose solutions. Party leaders and local representatives, including women leaders, will also visit institutions to assess conditions, particularly in girls’ schools.
The findings of the study committee will be compiled into a report to be submitted to the BRS leadership, which plans to raise these issues during the winter session of Assembly.
