60 mobile medical units flagged off for affected areas in Villupuram district

Forest Minister K. Ponmudy launches 60 mobile medical units for Cyclone Fengal relief in Villupuram district.
Forest Minister K. Ponmudy on Wednesday flagged off 60 mobile medical units (MMUs), in the wake of Cyclone Fengal. Each unit has a doctor, a staff nurse and a sanitary inspector.
According to a press release, the units will visit 146 areas in Villupuram district, that have been affected by the heavy downpour under the impact of the cyclone. The mobile units would provide medical support for fever, respiratory infection, diarrhoea, body ache, stomach upset, mud sore and other infections.
The units will also screen people for diabetes and hypertension and refer those requiring follow-up treatment to the Government Hospitals in the district. The MMUs will hold camps as is required in affected areas.
Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar was present on the occasion.
