2025 Delhi Assembly elections results in BJP's return to power, sparking speculation on next Chief Minister frontrunners.
The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections have changed the face of Delhi’s political landscape. After 26 years, the BJP is back in power. But now, the big question—who will be Delhi’s next Chief Minister?
With the BJP’s return with a thumping majority, all eyes are on the party’s leadership. Let’s take a look at the frontrunners for the CM post.
Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, defeated Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat—historically a CM stronghold. With his political legacy and back-to-back wins as MP, he’s a strong contender.
Jat face, did not give a Jat face in Haryana, could satisfy Jat vote in Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Rajasthan.
Vijender Gupta, a BJP veteran and three-time MLA from Rohini, has been the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. He’s a key name because of his experience and deep party connections as well as his position as a trader in the face of BJP’s core voter group of traders and businessmen.
Since polls in Bihar are due soon, the BJP may choose to deploy a Purvanchali face in the capital. The party also extensively appealed to the Purvanchali voter base in Delhi ahead of these polls.
Manoj Tiwari, MP from North East Delhi and a star campaigner, has a strong influence over Delhi’s Purvanchali voters. Though he didn’t contest in the Assembly polls, his popularity keeps him in the mix.
