All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday termed as unacceptable the “clearance” given by the Joint Committee on Wakf (amendment) Bill “in haste” for the piece of legislation, disregarding objections of various stakeholders.
In a post on his social media handle, Mr. Palaniswami said even though the Centre had been saying that the draft legislation was meant for protecting Wakf properties, Muslims’ concerns were justifiable that provisions of the Bill were against the minorities. The Union government should drop the bill, he added.
