
Vivo leads Q4 2024 India smartphone market, Apple breaks into top five brands

Vivo has claimed the top spot in the Indian smartphone market with 18% share during the Q4, 2024, followed by Xiaomi at 15.2% and Samsung with 15.1%
Vivo has claimed the top spot in the Indian smartphone market with 18% share during the Q4, 2024, followed by Xiaomi at 15.2% and Samsung with 15.1%. Oppo stood fourth with 11.4% while Apple, for the first time ever, came into top five with 11% market share in the quarter, and a handsome 72% year-over-year (YoY) growth. These figures were shared by the CyberMedia Research (CMR) on Tuesday (February 4, 2025).
Samsung also witnessed a 27% YoY decline in the affordable segment during the quarter.
Apple’ market share in between ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh segment increased by 82% YoY, while in the above ₹1 lakh category, it surged by 32% YoY, the research firm noted.
In the CY2024, Xiaomi emerged as the leading smartphone brand with 18% share, followed by Samsung (16.9%) and Vivo (16.7%).

Vivo also led the 5G smartphone segment with a 19% market share, closely followed by Samsung with an 18% market share. In the premium 5G smartphone segment, above ₹25,000, Samsung had 28% share, Apple got 25% and Vivo achieved 15%.
However, India’s premium smartphone segment (₹25,000 to ₹50,000) continued its double-digit growth. Similarly, the ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh and above ₹1 lakh posted 10% and 25% growth, respectively.

Following protests by residents of Mittaganahalli and Kannur villages over dumping the city’s waste in the Mittaganahalli quarry pit, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will soon issue tenders and work orders and begin work on rural development projects worth ₹500 crore in these areas, Chief Civic Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said on Monday.
