Vikrant Patil takes charge as Kurnool SP

IPS officer Vikrant Patil appointed as new SP of Kurnool district, focusing on maintaining law and order and preventing cybercrimes.
IPS officer Vikrant Patil took charge as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kurnool district on Saturday. He was posted as SP in place of G. Bindhu Madhav, who was recently transferred to Kakinada district.
Speaking to media after taking charge, Mr. Vikrant Patil thanked the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta for giving him the new opportunity. He assured to focus on taking steps to maintain law and order in the district and to curb crime against women and children.
Mr. Vikrant Patil said that there has been a spurt in cybercrime in the recent times and steps would be taken to prevent such crimes apart from just solving them. Awareness would be created among the general public against digital arrests, credit card frauds and other related cybercrimes, he said.
Awareness would also be created on the POCSO Act to prevent crime against children, the SP said. He also assured to increase the number of CCTVs in villages and towns with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to prevent and solve crime as part of building a crime-free society.
Mr. Vikrant Patil is a 2012-batch IPS officer and was initially posted in Tamil Nadu. Following this, he was transferred to the Andhra Pradesh cadre and worked as ASP Thullur in 2016, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Parvathipuram and later promoted to SP rank. He served as Chittoor district SP in 2018, Visakhapatnam city Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in 2019, Guntakal Railway SP, DCP of Vijayawada city police, APSP Battalion Commandant and as Parvathipuram-Manyam SP. He was last posted as SP of Kakinada.
Terming the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday as a mixed bag with a special focus on the middle class and the state of Bihar, Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI), a body of traders and industrialists, expressed its displeasure by stating that the budget did not consider the major demands from Kalyana Karnataka region.
