BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra on Thursday denied having any role in the appointment of party district unit presidents, while responding to the allegations of K. Sudhakar, MP, who accused him of appointing his “yes men”.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Thursday, Mr. Vijayendra said the party had adopted a uniform policy prescribed by the Central leaders for selection of district unit presidents and there was no scope to interfere in the system. There were election officers and co-election officers to supervise the process, he said. Mr. Vijayendra said he would make it a point to meet Mr. Sudhakar and clarify his position.
Referring to Mr. Sudhakar questioning his functioning style and accusing him of being unilateral while making decisions, he said: “I will correct myself if there is a need.” He maintained that it was not appropriate for a leader like Mr. Sudhakar to indulge in talking lightly about him in public.
Mr. Sudhakar had raised a banner of revolt against Mr. Vijayendra on Wednesday by announcing his decision to complain against him to the Central leadership over appointment of the Chickballapur district president.
