Time has come to rebuild Andhra Pradesh, says Governor Abdul Nazeer. The misgovernance of the previous regime has landed the State in deep financial crisis, he says, adding that the Central and State governments have begun the recovery process. The Central government has released funds for the Polavaram project, and extended its support to Amaravati and for revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, he says. The State government, on its part, has come up with Swarnandhra Vision - 2047, a plan that envisions a healthy, wealthy and happy Andhra, the Goveror adds.
Andhra Pradesh stands at a pivotal moment in history today as, after five years of misgovernance that landed the State in deep financial troubles, the time has come to rebuild it and fulfil the trust reposed in us, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has said.
Delivering his Republic Day speech after unfurling the national flag amidst much fanfare at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in Vijayawada on Sunday, Mr. Abdul Nazeer recalled the State’s predicament seven months ago.
The fiscal mismanagement was so deep that a vote on account had to be presented for the first time. “The State was burdened by unpaid liabilities, stalled projects and a broken governance structure. It is our moral duty to understand and inform the people about the true extent of damage done to the State during the previous regime,” he said.
“Now, the time has come to bring the State back on track. The Central government has begun the recovery process by releasing funds for the Polavaram project and extending its support to Amaravati and for revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant,” the Governor said.
The State government, on its part, was working towards stabilising the finances. “Marking its first step towards growth, the State government has come up with Swarnandhra Vision - 2047, a plan that envisions a healthy, wealthy and happy Andhra,” the Governor said.
“During this time, the economy is projected to grow at 15%, from ₹16 lakh crore now to ₹305 lakh crore by 2047, implying an increase in per capita income from ₹2.68 lakh to ₹53.34 lakh, 20 times increase in 24 years,” he observed.
The Governor underlined 10 guiding principles that formed the basis of the vision — Zero Poverty, Water Security, Cost Optimisation - Energy and Fuel, Employment Generation, Skilling and Human Resources Development, Farmer AgriTech, Global Best Logistics, Product Perfection, Swachh Andhra, and Deep Tech Integration.
