Rash and triple-riding proved fatal for three persons after their two-wheeler hit the rear side of a parked truck near Thuthipet on Sedarapet-Pathukannu road on Wednesday (February 12, 2025) night.
The police identified the deceased as Saranraj, 27, Senthil, 42, and Gunasekaran, 24. Samraj was riding the bike, while the other two were riding pillion. All three were residents of bordering villages in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, the police said.
The police said preliminary reports suggested the rider of the motorbike lost control of the vehicle and hit the rear side of the truck. All three sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot, according to the police.
“The victim was riding the bike in a very negligent manner. Injuries show the bike was moving very fast. They were also not wearing helmet,” the officer said.
However, people residing at Pathukannu said while the cause of accident might be overspeeding, it was a fact that the stretch where the accident occurred did not have lighting facility.
