Three-day Sharana Mela at Kudalasangama from tomorrow

38th Sharana Mela at Kudalasangama with conferences, awards, and rituals honoring Basaveshwara's teachings and followers.
The Basava Dharma Peetha and the Rashtriya Basava Dal will organise a three-day 38th Sharana Mela at the historic Kudalasangama in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district starting Sunday.
Rashtriya Basava Dal district president R.G. Shetagar, addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Friday, said that on Sunday, the former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa will inaugurate the 34th Rashtriya Basava Dal Conference titled Responsibility of Youths and Annual Planning for 2025.
This will be followed by a women’s conference.
Chairman of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti will inaugurate the 38th Sharana Mela on Monday, while Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi will hoist the Basava Dharma Peetha flag.
On Tuesday, the followers of the 12th century social reformer Basaveshwara will participate in the annual congregation to observe Basava Kranti Day.
To mark the Basava Dharma foundation day on Tuesday, the peetha will perform day-long rituals, including prayer, recitations of Vachanas of Basaveshwara and his contemporaries.
Renowned oncologist Vijaylakshmi Deshmane will be honoured with Basavaatmaje Rashtriya Prashasti-2025 and Governor of Meghalaya C.H. Vijayshankar will be conferred with the Lingananda Sri Rashtriya Prashasti-2025 on the occasion.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
