DMK leader Kanimozhi clarifies Tamil Nadu's stance on PM SHRI scheme, emphasizing acceptance based on state-led committee recommendations.
DMK Parliamentary Party leader and MP Kanimozhi said on Wednesday (March 12, 2025) that the Tamil Nadu government’s letter to the Centre regarding PM SHRI clearly stated that the State would accept the scheme only based on recommendations from a T.N. government-led committee, and not from the Union government’s recommendation.
In a post on X, she was responding to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who had posted a letter from the Tamil Nadu government regarding its intent to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the PM SHRI scheme.
“Nowhere have we mentioned that we are accepting the three-language policy or the National Education Policy (NEP) in its entirety. Whatever is acceptable for Tamil Nadu, we will accept that — nothing more, nothing less. Stop twisting facts,” Ms. Kanimozhi said.
