Tamil Nadu BJP president calls for CAG audit of HR and CE department, challenges allocation claims in Union Budget.
The Tamil Nadu government should submit accounts details of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR and CE) department for CAG audit, said K. Annamalai, Tamil Nadu president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Coimbatore city on Friday.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of “Blossom,” the Rotary district conference, he said that when the BJP would come to power in the State, it would conduct a detailed audit of the department’s accounts.
On allegations that Tamil Nadu did not get any allocation in the Union Budget, Mr. Annamalai said he was ready for a debate on this issue and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin should release a white paper on the funds allocated to Tamil Nadu by the UPA government and the funds received under the NDA government.
Further, Ministers “imported” from the AIADMK were doing “dubbing” for the Chief Minister, he said. Mr. Annamalai also alleged that women in the State were not safe.

The Opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whether it would fulfil the poll promise of providing free LPG cylinders to women on Holi. Hitting back, the ruling party asked AAP why had it not kept its word on disbursing ₹1,000 to women for which it had allocated ₹2,000 crore in the 2024-25 budget. Meanwhile, Delhi government sources said officials are preparing a blueprint of the proposal and that the criteria for the beneficiaries is yet to be decided. The BJP had promised to provide LPG cylinders for ₹500 to women from poor families and one free cylinder each on Holi and Deepavali ahead of the February 5 Assembly election.
