Space scientist to deliver VTU convocation address in Belagavi tomorrow

Space scientist Tessy Thomas to deliver convocation address at VTU's annual event, awarding postgraduate and research degrees.
Space scientist Tessy Thomas will deliver the convocation address at the second (part two) annual (2024-25) convocation of Visvesvaraya Technological University in Belagavi on Saturday.
Dr. Thomas, who is the Vice-Chancellor, NICHE, Kanyakumari, the former Director-General of Aeronautical Systems and the former Project Director, AGNI-4 Missile, DRDO, New Delhi, will be the chief guest at the convocation. He will award postgraduate and research degrees of the technological university.
The second convocation in a year is held to avoid delays in awarding degrees and to enable students to seek admission to international higher education institutions, VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar has said.
The event scheduled in the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam auditorium, Jnana Sangama, VTU, Belagavi, will confer degrees of postgraduation and research (Ph.D, M.Sc-Engg.) through research and integrated dual degrees.
The first part of the university’s 24th annual convocation was held on July 18, 2024 to confer degrees of undergraduate (BE/B.Tech/B.Plan/B.Arch) courses and research (Ph.D/M.Sc-Engg. by research degrees).
During part two of the 24th annual convocation, VTU will confer MBA 7,194 (4,947 + 2,247 from autonomous colleges), MCA 3,784 (2,648 + 1,136 from autonomous colleges), M.Tech. 1,313 (477 + 836 from autonomous colleges), M.Arch 83 (72 + 11 from autonomous colleges) and M. Plan 23 degrees.
The pass percentage for girls is 94.44 and for boys, it is 92.44 for all postgraduate courses.
