Actor Soori has teamed up with director Mathimaran Pugazhenthi for a new film, set to be produced by RS Infotainment. Mathimaran, who made his debut with GV Prakash, Gautham Menon’s Selfie in 2022, is an associate of director Vetri Maaran, having recently worked in his Viduthalai films, starring Soori.
The news was announced by the banner on Monday (January 13), on the 25th day of the release of Viduthalai: Part 2.
Other details regarding the project are yet to be announced. The film is one of the two films the banner has announced; the other is director Vetri Maaran’s upcoming film with superstar Dhanush.
The film will mark Soori’s sixth outing as a hero. The actor has earned a distinct name and fame, having successfully transitioned from a comedian to a hero, a transition that began with Vetri’s first Viduthalai film in 2022.
PS Vinothraj’s Kottukkaali took Soori to the international arena; the film premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival followed by a screening at the Transilvania International Film Festival. The actor then followed it up with a mass avatar in a commercial actioner, Garudan, co-starring Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan.
Last seen in Viduthalai: Part 2, Soori’s next is a film directed by Prashanth Pandiyaraj (of Vilangu fame).
