Internet celebrity Orry booked for consuming alcohol near Vaishno Devi, sparking outrage and calls for a ban.
Internet celebrity Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, along with 7 others, has been booked for allegedly consuming alcohol at a Katra hotel near Vaishno Devi, a holy Hindu shrine. An FIR was registered against the eight for “violating the law of the land” and a team was set up to nab them for “hurting the sentiments of people”, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in a statement. Subsequently, angered netizens have called for a ‘ban’ on Orry for purportedly insulting the Hindu faith.

The Katra Police Station received a complaint on March 15 that some guests staying at a hotel were found consuming alcohol on the premises in violation of rules. They were also consuming non-vegetarian food. An FIR was then registered against the eight and a team was set up to apprehend them. They have been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Besides Orry, the other individuals named in the complaint are Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli and Anastasila Arzamaskina.
Orry or Orhan Awatramani is a socialite and social media influencer best known for his closeness to several Bollywood stars, especially star kids. He became an internet curiosity in 2023 owing to his presence at plush Bollywood parties.
Orry has a degree in Fine Arts and Communication Design from Parsons School of Design in New York. His LinkedIn account says he is a Special Projects Manager at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairperson’s Office. Though his exact profession remains a mystery, Orry has spoken about being a graphic designer in the past and working at a Steve Madden store in Mumbai. He has also described himself as singer-songwriter and a fashion designer.
Adding to the miasma of mystic, Orry likes to call himself a ‘liver’.
