Actor Jonathan Majors faces backlash after admitting to strangling ex-girlfriend in audio recording, impacting his career and personal life.
Actor Jonathan Majors admitted to strangling his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in a previously unreleased audio recording obtained by Rolling Stone. The recording, captured in September 2022, surfaced as Majors attempts to rebuild his career following his conviction for reckless assault and harassment in a separate case.
In the recording, Jabbari confronts Majors about the alleged attack. “You strangled me and pushed me against the car,” she says. Majors responds, “Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed,’ yeah.” The conversation was recorded days after the incident while Majors was filming Loki in London. Jabbari previously alleged in a civil lawsuit that Majors had slammed her into a car, dragged her inside their home, and strangled her.
Majors’ legal team has not responded to the release of the recording. Jabbari’s attorney declined to comment.
The resurfaced audio comes months after Majors’ December 2023 conviction for reckless assault and harassment related to a different fight with Jabbari in New York. In that case, she suffered a fractured finger and a cut behind her ear. A judge barred previous allegations of abuse from being introduced during the trial, though Jabbari had accused Majors of violent behavior in multiple instances.
Following the trial, Majors was sentenced to complete a 52-week domestic violence intervention program. He has denied ever being physically abusive to women, stating in an April 2024 Good Morning America interview, “My hands have never struck a woman, ever.”
Despite the controversy, Majors is set to return to the big screen with Magazine Dreams, a film acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment after being shelved by Searchlight Pictures. In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, he avoided addressing the allegations directly but spoke about learning and growth.
Meanwhile, one of Majors’ ex-girlfriends, Maura Hooper, expressed skepticism about his redemption. “What do you get at the end of a 52-week domestic violence course?” she asked. “I don’t see redemption happening here.”

As Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White approaches its March 21 theatrical debut, reports suggest that the film’s lead stars, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, may not share a close bond off-screen, with age gap, differing political perspectives, and personal priorities cited as reasons for the alleged distance
