
Skill development programme on GIS begins

NIT-C's SDP on GIS Basics for Urban Planning emphasizes upskilling with hands-on sessions and field visits.
The Skill Development Program (SDP) on ‘GIS (Geographic Information System) Basics for Urban Planning’ organised by the Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design (CoEUPD) of the National Institute of Technology-Calicut (NIT-C) began in Kozhikode on Wednesday (February 26, 2025).
NIT-C Director Prasad Krishna, in his inaugural address, highlighted the importance of upskilling and mastering tools such as GIS, especially in urban planning. He also released the training manual prepared by the centre.
P.P. Anilkumar, Chairman of CoEUPD, presided over the event. The three-day programme includes hands-on sessions for participants to work on software and a field visit to Kariathanpara for data collection.
