
Singareni holds meet with Australian firms to improve coal production

SCCL Chairman discusses plans to increase coal production with Australian companies, emphasizing modern machinery and safety equipment.
HYDERABAD
The management of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) led by its Chairman and Managing Director N. Balaram on Friday had a meeting with a delegation of the 13 Australian mining and equipment technology companies on scaling up production with the help of modern machinery and safety equipment.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Balaram said the SCCL was going ahead with the plans to achieve production of 100 million tonnes of coal in the next few years by procuring modern mining machinery and safety equipment along with plans to scale up solar power generation and establish battery energy storage systems.
He explained to the visiting delegation about the SCCL’s plans for business expansion and diversification with the help of power point presentation and the Australian companies could supply modern machinery and other equipment. He highlighted the need for better technology to improve production both in the opencast mines and in the underground mines with longwall technology.
Representatives of the Australian companies made separate power presentations on the new technologies available with them. Directors of SCCL D. Satyanarayana Rao, L.V. Suryanarayana and others participated in the meeting attended by Australian companies Wilson Mining Services, Mineset, DTN Asia Pacific, RME Global, Mineral Technologies and others.
Meanwhile, at another meeting with the recognised trade union Singareni Collieries Workers’ Union, the CMD stressed on the need to improve work culture to increase production for the sustained future of the company. He stated that the prices of Singareni coal were higher compared to Coal India and imported coal as the production cost in the underground mines was reaching ₹16,000 per tonne leading to decrease in demand.
