NTK leader Seeman’s security guard and driver have approached the Madras High Court seeking bail in a case registered against them for allegedly restraining an Inspector of Police from entering the politician’s bungalow at Neelankarai
Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader S. Seeman’s security guard M. Amalraj, 50, and driver B. Subakar, 34, have approached the Madras High Court seeking bail in a case registered against them for allegedly restraining an Inspector of Police from entering the politician’s bungalow at Neelankarai in Chennai on February 27, 2025, and reportedly attempting to fire at him with a pistol.
Justice Sunder Mohan on Tuesday (March 11, 2025) granted time till Thursday (March 13, 2025) for the prosecution to file its counter affidavit to the bail plea filed jointly by both the accused. Though the prosecution sought time till Friday (March 14, 2025) to file its response and the petitioners’ counsel accused it of wantonly delaying the hearing, the judge decided to give a short opportunity to the police to file its response.
The Neelankarai police had filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) against the petitioners. The first FIR was booked on the basis of a complaint lodged by S. Gopi, Sub Inspector of Valasaravakkam police station in Chennai. According to the complainant, he had gone to the residence of the politician on February 27, 2025, to serve a police notice, summoning him for inquiry, in an alleged rape case.
The Sub Inspector claimed the politician’s driver tore the notice within 10 minutes of it being pasted on the gate of the bungalow. When confronted, the driver and security guard allegedly abused the police officer using foul language. Therefore, he chose to lodge a complaint against the duo at the Neelankarai police station and accordingly, the first FIR was registered.
Thereafter, when the Inspector of Neelankarai police station R. Praveen Rajesh went to the politician’s residence, the duo refused to let him in. When the police team led by the Inspector overpowered the security guard and tried to take him to the police station, the latter pulled out a pistol and “tried to shoot at me with the finger on the trigger,” the Inspector said in his complaint to the Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The Inspector said a pistol with a magazine containing six bullets, apart from another magazine loaded with six more bullets, were recovered from the accused, and claimed the latter had been using the pistol at his workplace in violation of the arms licence conditions. Another FIR was registered against the duo on the basis of the complaint lodged by the Inspector, and they were arrested.
Denying the charges, the petitioners stated the police notice was removed from the gate only after reading its contents and conveying it to the politician and his wife. The security guard also claimed he had actually handed over his licenced pistol to the police but they had concocted a false story of having attempted to fire.

The Opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whether it would fulfil the poll promise of providing free LPG cylinders to women on Holi. Hitting back, the ruling party asked AAP why had it not kept its word on disbursing ₹1,000 to women for which it had allocated ₹2,000 crore in the 2024-25 budget. Meanwhile, Delhi government sources said officials are preparing a blueprint of the proposal and that the criteria for the beneficiaries is yet to be decided. The BJP had promised to provide LPG cylinders for ₹500 to women from poor families and one free cylinder each on Holi and Deepavali ahead of the February 5 Assembly election.
