Experience the beauty of Valmiki's life through intricate floral models at the 217th Republic Day flower show in Lalbagh.
Visitors from across the country gathered at Lalbagh Botanical Garden on Thursday as the 217th edition of the Republic Day flower show was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The show, organised by the Horticulture Department, is themed ‘Adikavi Maharshi Valmiki’ and features various floral models and artefacts related to the life and works of Valmiki.
The 10-foot-tall model of Valmiki garnered significant attention. Visitors were captivated by the intricate details used to depict the poet.
Sanjeev Mahajan, a professor from Punjab who was at the show, said, ”The artists have truly captured the essence of Valmiki - his wisdom, his serenity, his profound connection to nature.” S. R. Valsala, another visitor from Goa, called the show “a feast for the eyes. ”The organisers have done a fantastic job of bringing the story of the Valmiki to life through flowers,” she said.
While the ticket prices were increased for this year’s show, it did not seem to have deterred the regular visitors to the show. “Our family visits Lalbagh daily; we walk there every day, and we never pass up the opportunity to visit this beautiful place. This year’s theme is really good and revolves around Ramayana, and we are moved by it,” Simran, a resident of Wilson Garden, said.
The flower show will go on till January 27 and the officials are expecting around 9.5 lakh to 10 lakh visitors.
