Rehabilitation facility for stroke, head injury patients opened at Ganga hosptial in Coimbatore

Ganga Medical Centre and Hospitals opened a rehabilitation facility for stroke and head injury patients at its Ganga Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (GSIRC), Kavundampalayam, on Sunday.
District Collector G.S. Sameeran inaugurated the facility which is equipped with a stroke rehabilitation unit, virtual rehabilitation unit, hand-arm rehabilitation unit and a hydrotherapy pool among others.
A release from the hospital said that GSIRC has been supported by many donors, particularly Rotary Club of Coimbatore Central which enhanced the facility with sophisticated equipment through its two Global Grant Projects.
Equipment worth ₹75 lakh for the rehabilitation of spinal cord injured patients were installed through the first project in 2017. In the second project, equipment worth ₹1.26 crore have been dedicated to the rehabilitation of stroke patients. A part of the fund was used to set up a hydrotherapy pool, it said.
According to the hospital, the entire cost of rehabilitation will be subsidised through support from the Rotary and the rehabilitation process will be done free for patients who are totally unaffordable.
