Products made by prison inmates on display at Numaish
HYDERABAD
Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Soumya Mishra inaugurated the department’s stalls at the 84th edition of All India Industrial Exhibition, popularly known as Numaish, on Thursday. The stalls will have products crafted by prison inmates.
“The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the various vocational and reformative programmes implemented for the rehabilitation of prisoners. Items such as durries, carpets, bedsheets, towels, napkins, and toiletries, including soaps, phenyl, handwash, sanitiser, and floor cleaners, as well as organic vegetables and nursery products, are displayed for sale,” she said.
Secretary B. Surender Reddy, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Hyderabad Range) D. Srinivas, Superintendent of Jails N. Shivakumar Goud and Superintendent of Jails, Cherlapally, G. Ramachandram, were present.
