Postal department launches ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign in Mangaluru

Department of Posts, Mangaluru Division promotes cycling for fitness and sustainability among staff members under Fit India Mission.
Over 100 staff members of the Department of Posts, Mangaluru Division, took part in the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign launched by the department under Fit India Mission in Mangaluru on Sunday (February 9, 2025).
S. Rajendra Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle, Bengaluru, inaugurated the campaign at Mangaluru Head Post Office, Pandeshwar.
The campaign was launched to promote cycling as a healthy, sustainable mode of transport and to make fitness an integral part of daily lives. It was also to value the immense contribution of postmen and postwomen in bridging the communication gap and connecting the nation, a release from the division said.
Highlighting the importance of cycling, Mr. Kumar said that the department’s staff should remain committed to create awareness on fitness and healthy living for a greener and fitter India. The campaign intended to promote the habit of cycling, reduce the usage of motor vehicles, lower the consumption of fuels and increase the fitness and longevity of human beings, he said.
The rally covered three km via A.B. Shetty Junction, Police Commissioner’s Office, State Bank of India, Town Hall, Clock Tower, University College, RTO and concluded at the Head Post Office.
M. Sudhakara Mallya, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mangaluru Division, also took part in the event.
