Porunai Festival in Tirunelveli from January 28

'Porunai Festival 2025' in Tirunelveli celebrates literature, art, and culture with book fair, literary festival, and cultural events.
The district administration is gearing up for organising ‘Porunai Festival 2025’ from January 28.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Collector K.P. Karthikeyan said the festival would be held till February 10 with active participation of the public, including students, and writers from this region to celebrate Tirunelveli’s rich contribution to literature, art and cultural diversity.
As a precursor to ‘Porunai Book Fair’ to be organised as part of this celebration, the ‘Porunai Literary Festival’ will be organised for three days from January 28 to 30 while ‘Nellai Art Festival’ will be conducted on January 31 and February 1.
Assembly Speaker M. Appavu and Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru will inaugurate the 8th book fair at Tirunelveli Trade Centre on the Exhibition Grounds.
During the three-day ‘Porunai Literary Festival,’ workshops for students on short story writing, poetry writing, music and drama will be held at Muththamizh Public School, Angelo Matriculation Higher Secondary School and St. John’s College from January 28 to fine-tune the students’ skills in their area of interest.
The next two days will be dedicated to the cultural festival in which college students from the district will showcase their skills at Tirunelveli Trade Centre. Moreover, folk artistes from the district will present cultural events at Valliyoor and Ambasamudram also on February 1 as part of the festival.
