
Police officer on morning walk knocked down by speeding bus in Hayathnagar

Telangana police officer killed in road accident, bus driver in custody for negligence, investigation ongoing.
An Assistant Superintendent of Police with the Telangana police was killed in a road accident in Hayathnagar early Saturday (March 22) morning.
The deceased, identified as T.M. Nandeeswara Babji, who was attached Telangana DGP office, was on his routine morning walk at Laxma Reddy Pallem around 4.40 a.m. at the time of the incident.
“As he attempted to cross the road, a speeding APSRTC bus bearing the number AP 39 VA 9563, traveling from Abdullapurmet to Hayathnagar, rammed into him,” Hayathnagar Inspector P. Nagaraju Goud said. Due to the impact of the collision, Babji died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for postmortem evaluation.
Meanwhile, the bus driver, identified as Kongara Kiran Kumar, 28, a resident of Eluru district, has been taken into police custody. He was booked for causing death by negligence and investigation is underway.
