AIADMK vows to protect Tamil Nadu, criticizes DMK, and honors founder M.G. Ramachandran on death anniversary.
The AIADMK on Tuesday resolved to protect Tamil Nadu, which had been “affected by an evil force.”
A pledge to this effect was taken on the 37th death anniversary of the party’s founder and former Chief Minister, M.G. Ramachandran, at his mausoleum on the Marina here. It was administered by the party’s general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Condemning the ruling DMK for its “dynastic politics,” the AIADMK flagged hike in electricity tariff, prices of dairy products marketed by the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, property tax, water charges, and rates for registration of properties since the DMK came to power in May 2021.
AIADMK MP and former Union Minister M. Thambi Durai, general secretary K.P. Munusamy, and former Ministers C. Ponnaiyan and D. Jayakumar, among others, were present.
The ADMK Workers’ Rights Retrieval Committee coordinator and former Chief Minister, O. Panneerselvam, accompanied by legislators R. Vaithilingam and P.H. Manoj Pandian paid floral homage at the mausoleum.
Former Union Minister S. Thirunavukkarasar; the AIADMK’s former interim general secretary, V.K. Sasikala, and the AMMK’s general secretary, T.T.V. Dhinakaran, too paid their respects to the late leader.
