New sports policy will ensure equal opportunities for all: Gadde

Vijayawada East MLA promotes inclusivity in sports, commends the Chief Minister's efforts, and introduces a new sports policy with rewards.
The new sports policy has been drafted to ensure equal opportunities for all, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, age, or ability, thereby fostering inclusivity in sports, says Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao.
On Monday, January 6, the MLA inaugurated the 68th School Games National Volleyball Tournament for Under-19 Girls at the P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science in Vijayawada. The MLA said sports and games are crucial to fostering children’s overall development. He commended Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts in promoting sports and making the State a sports hub.
The five-day tournament, organised by the School Games Federation of Andhra Pradesh (SGFAP) and School Games Federation Krishna District, will see the participation of players from 25 States. Later in the day, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh received a guard of honour from the participating State teams.
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman Animini Ravi Naidu shared details of the new sports policy. The policy provides substantial rewards for athletes excelling in national and international competitions. Cash prizes range from ₹1 lakh to ₹7 crore, with additional provisions for junior and sub-junior athletes.
Andhra Pradesh, alongside Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh, secured its first win during the league stage.
