Radhika Apte breast-pumps milk at BAFTAs, thanks friend for support; maintains private life with husband Benedict Taylor.
Actor Radhika Apte, who recently welcomed her first child with her husband, Benedict Taylor, on Tuesday, posted a picture from the recently held British Academy Film Awards, in which she can be seen breast-pumping milk.
Calling attention to the postpartum struggles of new mothers, Apte wrote, “I have to thank Natasha @tashtash07 for making it possible for me to attend the BAFTAs. She scheduled the itinerary around my breast-pumping timings. She not only accompanied me to the washroom to express milk but more importantly brought me champagne in the loo. (sic)
“It’s hard as is to be a new mum and work, this level of care and sensitivity is rare in our film industry and much appreciated,” she added.
Apte and Taylor, who have been married since 2012, maintain a relatively private lifestyle despite their prominent careers in the entertainment industry. The couple, who split their time between London and Mumbai, initially met in 2011 when Apte was in London for a sabbatical focused on contemporary dance. They lived together before tying the knot in a small ceremony in 2012, followed by an official celebration in 2013.
Apte walked the red carpet on Monday for her upcoming horror comedy, Sister Midnight, which was nominated under the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer category. Directed by Karan Kandhari, the offbeat comedy also stars Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, and Smita Tambe. Magnolia Pictures will release Sister Midnight in select American theatres in May 2025. The film is yet to lock a release date in India.
